BLK Takes Over NYC for the 99’s and 2000’s

BLK took Barcade Chelsea, NYC by storm a month ago, on November 11 to do what they do best: connect locals! A month later, they’ve partnered with Maryland-based, nonprofit Planet Aid to promote sustainability and of course, community.

The dating aficionados encourage cultivating long lasting relationships in fun environments which begins with their app. Since its conception in August 2017, BLK has become known as the Black community’s largest dating and lifestyle app. To wrap up the year and kick off the holiday season, the company threw a 90’s themed bash.

From the organic henna station by NYC Henna Queen to getting chracatures drawn by Goofy Faces artists, a time was had. The event was a great precursor to the app launching their #itsGivingSZN initiative; which urges users to donate their ex’s hoodies to spread the warmth this holiday season just in time for Dec. 11, a.k.a National Breakup Day.

However, it’s always cuffing season. Starting an account on BLK is quick and easy! Once the user enters their personal information along with their intent, either “something casual,” “relationship,” “marriage,” or being “open to anything,” the real fun begins. Not only does the app provide the opportunity to meet a new bestie or partner, it fosters the possibility of finding a community via participation in multiple group chats.

A great way to get started is to simply download the app! Though a great baby step would be exploring their website where success stories are shared alongside blog posts, and the announcement of events! So be on the look out, BLK loves to pop up in different cities.
